LiPulse Update: Opening Explorer, Tempo Analysis & Common Opponents
Analyze your games deeper and track friends faster: A free, transparent "Single File" dashboard for Lichess & Chess.com.I have been quietly updating LiPulse over the last few weeks to add the features I felt were missing for a complete analysis.
For those new to it: The tool's main strength remains Tracking and deep Filtering.
The Power of Filters
You aren't limited to broad stats like "Blitz Winrate". You can combine filters to answer very specific questions about your play.
Example: You can filter to show only "Rated Blitz games, played as Black, facing the London System on weekend evenings."
Once filtered, all charts and stats on the dashboard adapt to show data for exactly those games.
Tracking
The tool allows you to track if favorites are online, but there is a technical difference between the platforms:
Lichess: Real-time status. You see if someone is Online, Offline, or Playing.
Chess.com: Relies on the last login event. If a user opens the app without triggering a new login event, the API might not report them as online. It's useful for seeing recent activity, but not real-time status.
New Analysis Features
Here is a summary of the new tools I added to analyze the data you filter:
- Opening Explorer: An integrated board to replay lines. It includes a toggle for the Masters Database, so you can check your moves against GM play directly in the dashboard.
- Tempo Analysis: A new chart visualizes your average time spent per move. This is useful to spot if you are rushing openings or managing your time poorly in critical positions.
- Common Opponents: You can compare yourself with another player to see if you share any common opponents and how you both performed against them.
- Auto-Update: If you leave the dashboard open, it detects when a monitored player finishes a game and updates the stats automatically.

Open Source by Design
The tool remains "Open Source" by design. It is just a single HTML file that runs entirely in your browser with no hidden backend.
