Fantastic Positional Queen Sacrifices - Part 1

Whenever one side sacrifices material, in most cases this happens for a very direct tactical reason. In this blog post, however, I want to focus on positional sacrifices, where the compensation is of a slower, more strategic nature.

I will specifically devote my attention to positional queen sacrifices, as I feel that these are usually very beautiful and entertaining to watch. Some of the examples come from my own analysis and some of them from real games. I hope you will enjoy my collection of games.

I came across this position while preparing for a game in the German Bundesliga. Unfortunately, it never appeared on the board, as I had planned the following queen sacrifice:

The next position could have been reached my game against Moussard in the European Individual Championship 2022 had he played slightly differently. As I later discovered during my analysis, I would have gotten a remarkable possibility here, which I didn't see during the game:
