AMAZING. I have a big collection of opening queen sacs like these in a study, please check them out and see if any help with your prep!

@DrAgnevstein

I like your annotating style! Its clean and instructive.

Thank you for blessing us with this educational blog.

However there is something I don't like, and that is that truly disgusting AI thumbnail u put up there lol.

10.webp

What is GOING ON AT THE RIGHT HALF OF THE BOARD? XD

The squares are messed up, the image is AI Slop. A generic AI character is thinking (about what tho? XD). A queen with a weird crown has arrows going to different places. One of the arrows weirdly changes color abruptly, and another arrow has a fade to another color.

Also look at the shape of the room. The tables are arranged so that they are opposite the corner of the room.

So you wrote an excellent blog, but then you totally disrespect it by including that horrendous image lmao.

Come on man! What r u doin lol.

Did the AI worm infiltrate your brain? Do you think this is normal??

You are BETTER THAN THIS. YOU ARE A GM!

And you aren't the first GM I've had to have a chat with about this either XD

To sum up: Excellent Blog, Terrible Thumbnail.

Recommended Actions: Change current thumbnail to a respectable non-AI image and continue making excellent blogs!

Thanks for the kind words about the annotations, I appreciate your feedback.
Fair point on the thumbnail. I used an AI illustration and missed a few visual artifacts. I’ve now replaced it with a different image.
Glad you enjoyed the analysis and selected examples.

First game:

Nevertheless, White is clearly better!

Hmmm... Stockfish show that 14 ... Qc8, giving up the f-pawn for whites c-pawn quickly leads to a repetion. Several other responses give evals well under +1.0. Of course I would never find that, but are really sure that, under slow time controls, white would win a large majority of games between two equal GMs?

I was actually going to publish a blog on nearly the same topic, but while analyzing the games I actually hadn't considered that there could be opening lines directly leading to Positional Queen Sacrifices.

Thank You,
I will surely take inspiration from this blog.

Also, I forgot to mention that in your bundesliga preparation example, you have said "there is no immediate tactical continuation available." on the last move, but I think white has an immediate tactical threat of bb5+

Great article, Valentin! I especially like the second, but the first one is also quite similar to Caruana - Nakamura from London Chess 2016, one of my favourites in the topic. Looking forward to Part 2! ;)

So don't take the f pawn lol. Stockfish gives 15.c3 as +0.5 at depth 30.

Several other responses give evals well under +1.0.

+0.5 is clearly better for White. I mean 0.5 is clearly a bigger number than 0, isn't it?

Where did they claim that 'White would win a large majority of games between two equal GMs'.

They never said anything of the sort, so why do you say they did?

All they said was 'White is clearly better', they didn't say anything about win rates of this position between GMs.
