Deep Analysis of Lichess Puzzles

@Anonymous1590 said in #20:

That all sounds way over my head lol. I sort-of understand, though. How long did all of this take you? And how long did you have to complete the school project? By the way, although your blog is somewhat hard to understand, I can tell that you put in a lot of effort. Amazing job!

Thank you. It took about 1 week of work and about 2 months of light thinking. If it interests you I suggest looking at statistical analysis with R or Python and check out the Lichess Database.

i think there is a misinterpretation from the most frequent starting and ending moves. If the most frequent to start are pawn moves they are not generally quiet preparatory moves but pawn pushes in endgames, so it mostly depends on the type of puzzle.

I've never heard of the term "light thinking". While it sounds self-explanatory, I'm not 100% sure what it means. I looked it up, and Google's AI was the only thing that tried giving a definition. Assuming that it means not thinking that hard, ok.

2 months and 1 week is a lot of time and effort. Originally, I was thinking that you had analyzed all 5 million puzzles, and I thought, "This must have taken like a year!" lol. And then I combined that thought with, "Did his school actually give him a year to do his school project?" lol.

I'm no coding expert, and statistics was perhaps the hardest subject for me in math, so I'll pass on those things lol. But thanks for that part of the suggestion. In terms of looking at the Lichess Database though, I'll consider it. And thanks for suggesting doing this as well.

GOOD!
I don't like long tasks with complex solutions the most.
