Making a Fantasy Game out of Chess

Hello, I am dreaming Inventor. This blog is about my Fantasy game with Chess rules.

Let's start with the Landscape.

Black and White Tiles get improved.
The Checker Pattern gets changed.

White Tiles transform into Gras, and dark Tiles into Forest. There are also blue Tiles which is River or Lake.

Bishops teleport from dark/white Tiles to dark/white Tiles.
Only 1 teleport per turn is allowed.
The Tiles are placed this way that bishops can move to every Square of their color. They just ignore the wrong colored Squares with the teleport.

Rooks and Queens get stopped too with moving over changing Squares.

There are also Mountain Squares that block.
And there are village Squares that produce income.
If a unit captures it.

The board got a flexible size wirh more or less Tiles than the common 8×8.


There are more different units than in normal Chess

With income from beating enemy units or capturing villages, the King or Instructor (a new unit), can create Units.
They can create units only if they are at the border of the board.
And if they are not near the enemy King.

Kings are immune to Damage as long as there is an enemy Queen. Only the Queen can hurt the King.
If the enemy Queen is gone, all units can hurt the King.
The King is also able to dissmiss his own units.

Another important unit is the Artificer.
He can upgrade units.
There is Armor that makes units imune to another unit types.
Pawns for example can get immune to Knights for ecample.
But there are also upgrades that negate immunity.

The Artificer can also build Walls. Thats a blocking Square. Which needs to get busted by a Rook.

Artificer, Instructor move only 1 Tile like the King.
They are slow.

There is also a poison upgrade for Queens and Bishops. Poisoning is an attack without moving onto the enemy units tile.
Instead the Poisoner remains on his attack Position.
And the enemy units just gets tagged as poisoned.

Poisoned units can get removed from the board next turn.
You can remove your own poisoned units, in order to scrap income.
Or the enemy can remove them.
But removing a poisoned unit takes a turn to do so

There is also a variety of Queens.
Rooks mixed with Bishop.
Or Rooks with Knights.
Or Bishops mixed with Knights.


More Options allow more actions in 1 Turn

There are 2 actions in one turn.

First is the normal move or Slay rule we know from chess.

The second action is about Poisoning, Recruiting , building Walls or moving/attacking with Pawns.
Or removing poisoned units.

With 2 actions it is possible to move 2 Pawns a turn.
If King and Instructor are standing beside each other.
They can also recruit 2 Pawns in one action.

However pawns are slow, and need to start there way from near the border.


Income needs to be balanced.

There should not be more than 2 Income a turn.
Else pawn spamming gets a Problem.
1 pawn is 1 Income.

If you beat enemy units you get 1 income for Bishops and Knights. 2 for Rooks. And 3 for Queens and Kings.
If the King gets Checkmated, the Instructor can create a new one, and remove the Checkmated one.

Armor that gives immunity to one unit Type costs 1.5 income.
Weapons that negate immumity cost 1 income.
Units need to be placed besides the Artificer in order to get an upgrade.

Rooks ,Artificer and Instructor cost 5 Income.
Queens and Kings cost 9.
Bishops and Knights 3.

Poison Upgrade costs 3.


Campaign Mode

It could be possible to keep an army. Random encounters could get generated.

To win the Campaign you get points for brilliant moves.
These generate Fame. Which lead to harder Fights.

You could also challenge other human players with an army worth of even income.


Im sorry that i am not this good in writing Blogs.
I am playing with this fantasy Chess setup in my head.
And i guess i got problems sharing this fantasy.

Since i got problems, i try to write about my fantasy.
I hope i get better with it. But it could be like improving in chess. That im stuck on a level. Not able to express myself.

I also made Inventions in House, Ship, Plane and Car Construction. All potentially worth Millions. But sadly only if people get interested.
And the hype culture seems to be a problem for me.
