Understanding Danger: What Makes a Move Bad?

Sensing danger comes from remembering past mistakes.
I remember I fell into https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smothered_mate Philidor's mate decades ago. Since then I have always noticed it, for me as well as for my opponents.
The same with back rank mate, Greek gift sacrifice...
The memory of the loss helps to sense the danger or the opportunity.

You should always blunder check your intended move before you play it.
This is a 5+0 blitz game.

Look at the comment on move 30:
"At this moment my hand hovered over White’s Pawn on e4, but at the last second I realized that 30...Nxe4 is answered by 31 Qxe4 and White wins."
This shows Fischer blunder checked his intended move even in a 5+0 blitz game.

I didn't realize the thumbnail would cause this much drama. Guess I’ll have to keep the tradition alive :)

the diagram clearly indicates that the knight on b3 intends to pass through the strange object and capture white’s second king on f1, I don’t really see the problem

Good blog content though :)

It's AI-generated, this is the level of quality we can expect from a world where that's the norm!

You couldn't take the time to screenshot something similar to this in the analysis board and slap some text over it--and then you didn't have the time to glance over it before hitting "publish"? Why should anybody take the time to read this article?

It's honestly frustrating that Lichess, which is otherwise such a great service, is setting the bar this low for content. There should be a policy against AI images, they lower the quality of the articles and they completely degrade our thinking ability.

Maybe it's created by an AI

"Or is it just... doing nothing?"

Surely you don't play that move here either...
