Shatter the Philidor Defense with the Zombie King gambit

Cool idea & nice analysis! As I understand it, 3... h6 is already considered inaccurate from Black, precisely as it allows too much activity for white. More common at the higher level are 3... Be7, or 3... Nf6, as 4. Ng5 can be met with 4... d5! and after 5. exd5 black can simply play 5... h6, kicking the knight away and seizing the initiative. It seems that 3... h6 is the most played move by players on Lichess, however, so the Zombie King gambit looks like a really good weapon to have in your arsenal. I wouldn't quite call it a refutation to the Philidor, though, which top players like Bortnyk, Mamedyarov, and Dubov have played with great success from the Black side.

I believe the author meant to say "in order to get the Zombie king gambit on the board, they have to play h6". Not that it is forced :) it really is a great article though! :D

Good and well set out article. I enjoyed. Although, I don't think I'll get this line very often given that 3 ... h6 doesn't happen 80% of the time!

Definitely a well-suited name for a great trap

Moral of the story is, if you lose time playing undeveloping moves like h6 in an open position for no reason, your opponent can sac the kitchen sink and still be winning
