The Nameless (Completely Unsound) Gambit

@noahlz

I can't remember ever facing this opening myself. Maybe I shall play it myself now. XD.

White has an astounding (rage-inducing) 61% win rate from here (Ultrabullet - Rapid, rated 1800+). Kind of unbelievable.

Getting wrecked by a unsound gambit is always rage-inducing indeed lol.

Also when you try to play the gambit yourself, but unfortunately people somehow never give you the chance to play it against them.

Or when they always somehow they play some line that refutes it. Even though you should be winning on average.

To be clear, losing to this opening is not what's rage-inducing...it's seeing that it it's 61% winning for white even filtered for higher ratings tiers... Like, what??

Oh yeah.

Based on the database, it seems that 4.h6 is the culprit. And then 37,000 people miss mate in 6.

Also the people who don't miss mate still struggle as White castles and develops while they can't castle.

It is reminiscent of the Cochrane Gambit

Its actual name,(yes, it has one,), is the haggis gambit, named after a traditional Scottish food.
