The Budapest Gambit 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e5 and the Alapin Countergambit 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e5 are less unsound.
They try to demonstrate that the move c4 is useless.

Thx for the suggestion! I'll make sure to include these.

Fun choice for a “Daily Gambit” – the Englund really is the ‘call an ambulance... but not for me’ opening at fast time controls.
If you check Lichess Explorer after 1.d4 e5 dxe5 2.Nc6 Nf3 3.Qe7 Bf4 4.Qb4+ Bd2 5.Qxb2..., the practical results at sub-1600 for ultrabullet, bullet and blizt are surprisingly decent for Black: 77% of people play the right 5... Nc3 which lead to a +2.1 stockfish evaluation for white...
So hard to win with this black's opening for 77% of the games...

When I was younger, I tried playing the Englund Gambit because I was too lazy to learn a decent opening for Black against 1. d4. Yet I didn't like the practical results. In my opinion, even at 1000 rating level too many of my opponents had too little problems countering this gambit.
Nowadays, when I face the Englund Gambit while playing as White I prefer the Stockholm Variation, 4. Qd5. I know Stockfish says that it's not that good of a response, but the win rate is decent, and I also like that it turns the tables and an average Englund Gambit enjoyer suddenly finds themselves thrown in at the deep end. Speaking of the psychological warfare element of opening choices which you highlight in your posts, I think the Stockholm Variation safely does the trick for White.

Not technically banned, I did appeal but they said it was final. Though I can’t get a higher rating anymore, I can still blog freely though!
