The Daily Gambit #3: The Halloween (Because Who Needs Knights?)

Nice blog, thanks a lot!

I must say, as someone who's not a very aggressive player I mainly see your posts through the lens of "take note and beware of these lines".

However, I think that the Halloween Gambit may be a nice option for transpositions if my opponent dodges some of the lines which I am currently studying.

Maybe that is a good idea on how to use these objectively 'wild' gambits - as a means to completely shift gears against opponents who try to evade a more solid and balanced game. Perhaps that's just a less straightforward approach to the same principle of psychological warfare, i.e. depriving your opponents of piece of mind.

P. S. I literally went to google whether Pinski Variation was named after someone with this surname or it was some kind of a pun on a 'pin'. I landed on the Wikipedia page on the Halloween Gambit... and the Talk page there is one of those where David Zimbeck left his mark... so it is wild!

I would like to announce that the Daily Gambit #6 will be delayed for ONE more day due to problems with the formatting (well the entire editorial itself), but I already have drafts for Daily Gambit #7 and #8 to make up for the loss.

For those who see this message (and are groaning), I know that the series is titled “Daily Gambit” and I haven’t been posting daily as promised, I’d like to tell you that somehow or someway, technically and mentally everything is against me (and I’m very exhausted mentally and physically, and the people who just questions my authenticity are just tiring me off even more, and mind you I edit every 11 PM here in the Philippines to align with the timezone in the US and Europe for your convenience) and I have been taking breaks too.

I hope you all understand, and like or dislike this comment, I’d still thank you because you’ve actually read this.
