Where I've Been
Some of you might know or remember me. This post will go over my plans for my future on lichess and as a chess player in general. Also, I am not deleting my account, probably ever.Other Hobbies
The biggest reason I haven't been into chess lately is because I recently got back into my favorite childhood game, Geometry Dash (I'm greggoEgg0 on there if you want to add me), after not having played it for about 5 or 6 years. In that time, the biggest update the game has ever had (update 2.2) was released, and there's just so many things you can create and play now, it's basically infinite. So that being said, I have spent a LOT of time playing GD. However, that's not the only thing going on, I've also been watching a lot of Netflix. It wasn't all fun and games though, as I'll explain in the next section.
School (College / University))
In case you didn't know, I turned 18 in May last year (2025). Presumably, I also graduated from high school (I don't know what it's called in other parts of the world, sorry). After that of course I had summer, where I was a lot less productive than I would've liked. In September, however, I started my first semester at university (college. This made me a lot busier, with more assignments, studying, exams, and just the added stress of it all. Again, my main focuses outside of college were Geometry Dash and my tv shows, plus adding all of the other minor things I was doing (volunteering, gym, therapy, etc), I didn't feel like I had it in me to add competitive chess (or even frequent casual chess) to the equation.
The Future
So, what does all of this mean for my future as a chess player and a member of this community? To be honest, I can't say for certain right now. I still have a lot of goals I need to accomplish in my life, such as getting my drivers license and getting a job, so me coming back to lichess as an active member of the community is most likely not in the near future. I still might be playing a few bullet games for fun every once in a while, of course, my love for the game will never die. My love for the community and all of the friends I've made from it, all of the lessons I've learned about patience, strategy, and even gratitude, learning how to lead a team to success, and create a nice community where even just a few people are active at a time, it's something truly special and a feeling I hope everyone gets to feel. I am eternally grateful for everything this site and the game of chess has done for me, my friends, competitors, idols, and fans alike, you all have made my experience truly special. This is not the end of the book, just the end of the chapter.
