I just wanted to add a concrete example of how wild my swings can be.
My rating when I started playing an hourly bullet arena just now was 1678, but my arena performance was 1970. My average opponent was 1898, and I still scored a 57% win rate. That means in that short run I played like someone 250+ points above my rating.
This is the sort of thing that explains why I am sometimes suspected of cheating when I’m on form. The truth is that my performance really can jump like this. At my best, I can play games with 90%+ accuracy and even no mistakes. At my worst, I look like a beginner, making clearly daft moves and blundering pieces left, right and centre.
That arena snapshot, however, is a perfect illustration of how my “true” level can show up in bursts, even if my official rating is far lower and highly volatile.
I wish so badly that I could consistently play at that level!
I also have caught that thing. But I’m mentally almost normal, so it directly marks only my concentration.
very well written, brutally honest from the heart
