FIDE 2025 World Corporate Chess Championship: Registration Open!

Hm, seems like FIDE wants some quick cash. Smartest Company in the World when the competition is chess? probably more like most devoted company. It does serve as good advertisement for newer companies though.

This is very nice. Making chess accessible for all, not just those top players

Well, this is new (to my knowledge at least). Sounds like a fun way to meet up with different corporate bodies and possibly collaborate. Unfortunately however, i can't imagine myself participating. Out of all the staff I know at my firm personally (40+) I'm the only one who plays chess, aside from a 1400-rated colleague. So, forming a chess team with them may not be the best idea for us. But, watching the broadcast and seeing how other corporate teams fare might be a fun way to pass the time, even if it's not the same as watching professional players. Expecting to see some mistakes and good moves along the way, it'll be entertaining to observe from the sidelines.
Cheers

– Pay the entry fee (€500 per team)
Fide likes big money and big companies, €500 is ridiculous.
All companies that have 4 or more chess players should have an equal chance, not only the wealthy companies...

I was considering trying to convince the company I work for to form a team, but when I saw the €500 entry fee, I instantly knew the idea was dead in the water.

Well to be fair, you get flight and accommodation covered (at least the finalists of the Lichess qualifiers do). Also 100€ per person, while definitely a lot, isn't the most I paid to enter a tournament.

But as an online qualifier, it is still quite expensive.

And you have absolutely no clue what you sign up for. How many participants? How strong is the competition? It could be anything from a handful of teams to hundreds, from a couple GM-only teams to just casual.
