The ChessBase India team is in New York for the FIDE Rapid and Blitz World Championships later this week, and they paid a visit to Marshall Chess Club. Since Marshall is where I play many of the OTB games I analyze / blog about here, I thought readers might be interested in the video.
Some notes on the video:
Sagar says that the front room is for classes, but actually all three rooms are used for tournaments. It's not uncommon for every board (~70) to be in use during weekend tournaments.
The Club chess pieces are Bobby Fischer Ultimate. IMO they're the best plastic set, especially for blitz.
For tournaments, the Club provides DGT North American clocks. They also supply pencils and score sheets. If you enter a tournament, you just need to register 30 minutes in advance and show up for your game. (Some tournaments require Club membership however).
The top few floors of the Club building are occupied - which can be awkward when you're playing and residents are having a loud conversation in the stairwell.
