FM Boorchess narrowly escapes defeat in topsy turvey game against wife Kelly Boor (McBooms)

Chess Bus Limited U2400 — October 15 Tournament Recap

This week’s Chess Bus Limited U2400 featured some exciting new faces and fierce competition! A special welcome goes to Ohio’s own Ali Moeini (playing as TheOldManFromIran), a strong USCF-rated 2000 player who brought sharp play and lively spirit to the event.

The highlight of the night came in the showdown between FM Carl Boor and Kelly Boor, where Kelly found a beautiful tactical combination when BoorChess was lucky to hang on down a pawn for a draw. That result allowed the Boors to tie for 1st and 2nd place, splitting the $100 1st prize pool (that is guaranteed every week)
White to play and Boom

Kelly was white to play here and found a real BOOM.

The top three finishers:

  1. FM boorchess — 4.5 / 5 (Tie-break 11.75)
  2. McBooms — 4.5 / 5 (Tie-break 11.25)
  3. TheOldManFromIran (Ali Moeini) — 3.0 / 5
