Correspondence Chess at Christmas

Christmas Blitz Correspondence Championships

Chess
It's time for the 4th THINK Blitz Corresondence Championships - just in time for Christmas!

We are now into the 4th edition of the THINK Blitz Correspondence Championships - a great chance for anyone that loves Correspondence to pit their wits in a league format against players of a similar level over a 1-day a move format.

And if you're new to correspondence, you're welcome too - we'd love to have you come along and try it out. And because it's 1 a day then it's quick too (for correspondence games that is!) and most of your games will be over within a few weeks.

Here are the details.
- 1-day correspondence games (you must move every 1 day or you'll lose!)
- Last entries 5pm GMT Saturday 20th December
- Everyone is welcome whether a current THINK chess member or new to the team
- Entries will be grouped into leagues of around 20-25 people (depending on the number of entries) which will run on the Challonge website
- Yes, you will be playing a lot of games to start with - and that's the point - everyone is forced to move quickly as a result!
- Leagues will be decided based on the following criteria:

  • League position in the previous full Correspondence Champs
  • Position in the previous Think Blitz correspondence champs
  • Reliability of players who play all their games in any past tournaments
  • General reliability of players playing in other tournaments
  • Correspondence rating
  • Other ratings (with longer time controls prioritised)

- Everyone plays everyone once
- All matches to begin by 2pm 21st December (any that have not started will be deemed a draw or the person who has not accepted a challenge to have lost)
- Either player can start the match off. BOTH players are responsible for getting the match started.
- Results will be self reported on Challonge by one player (the winner is responsible if there is a decisive result). Any results not reported within 3 days of the game ending may be recorded as a draw so don't forget!
- Any disputes, talk to me. My decision on the outcome is final.
- Normal Lichess rules of correspondence apply. e.g. no engine use, lichess database use is allowed, pre-moves allowed etc
